Easter Fun

It is Easter weekend! Which meant we got to visit a lot of family and look for a lot of Easter Eggs!

The kids got some giant crackers that they got to open before dinner

Nick did all of his Easter egg hunting with his crutches. Which gave him lots of flexibility in small spaces.

With the difference in ages and abilities we have been hiding 4 eggs in each place. This means that the super-fast girls don't collect all of the eggs before the boys get a chance.

Afterwards everyone went through their eggs.

The next day we went to Grandma and Papa Bartley's house. Nick walked the whole way there!

And on Sunday morning we had lots of time for relaxing and looking at the what the Easter Bunny brought

Umm. When did he get so tall!

It was a fun Easter, with lots of family and lots of smiles!

Hoppy Birthday

Katheryn had a special 7th birthday today. It fell on Easter Sunday. So it was sharing the special-ness of Katheryn's birthday with an Easter Egg hunt for both of them.

So that tricky Easter Bunny hid all of Katheryn's presents around her room. She was very excited

Nick got into the fun as well and was right into the action while Katheryn opened her presents.

Everything kind of stopped once Katheryn opened her big present. A DS3. It was attached to her for the rest of the day

Then it was Easter Egg hunting.
Katheryn made up a note for the Easter Bunny asking if all of the eggs can be paired together. One for Katheryn and one for Nickolas.

Katheryn is an Easter egg hunting machine! Nick is significantly slower, so it evens it out for everyone.

We have Katheryn's birthday party next weekend, but wanted to do something special for her. So we headed off to the zoo

She told everyone we saw that it was her birthday and she was 7 today. And she had a big Princess Birthday pin.

The zoo wasn't that busy, considering it was a holiday. There was a scavenger hunt set up by the zoo to visit different animals and get stickers.

We had to visit the polar bears, which is an old time favorite of Katheryn.

Nick liked the sea otter ("just like Marlene" from Penguins of Madagascar)

My favorite was the Komodo Dragon. We waited to see if it would start to breathe fire, but it didn't. The kids were not convinced that it was an actual dragon.

We got together for some photos.

And there was a Parks Rec beaver mascot for pictures.

After the zoo we went back to the house for an inpromtu party.
Complete with some purple hair chalk!

I didn't take any pictures, but we had family come over for a pizza party and cake.

Katheryn had a great birthday! (And the both enjoyed their Easter)
(Easter Sunday doesn't fall on Katheryn's birthday again until she is 18 years old, so I am glad that we made it special)

Easter fun!

The Easter bunny came!

There were eggs hidden throughout the house

Katheryn zoomed through the house finding everything

We made a corner for Nick and Kyle to search together.

It's challenging finding places to hide the eggs that are both accessible for Nick to find and not to easy. And of course fun to find as well.
I think it worked... Looks like they had fun!

(Katheryn fell off our bed this morning, but it doesn't seem to be stopping her)

Believe in the Bunny

As an adult it is sometimes hard to stop and appreciate the things around you.
But the holidays pauses everything.

And lets you take a moment to look through your children's eyes.

And to make things as fun as you can.
With 3 different egg hunts!

It didn't matter that they were chocolate, if they had something in them or not.

It was the excitement of finding something!

So the Easter Bunny had to step up her game for Easter Sunday morning.

Putting things high, and low.

The was a surprise for the kids when they woke up

So that the first thing we heard in the morning was the excitement of discovery!

And our morning started with some more exploration, and only a small amount of chocolate.

Of course it did give us an excuse to do some physio and reaching exercises.

We had a house full of laughter and excitement!

We should hide stuff around the house every morning!

After the hunt the kids luckily had some downtime with brand new mermaid and pirate chairs
And some books to read

And we had lots of smiles

Hoppy Easter! From our family to yours!
