9 months

Nickolas is 9 months old today.
And another lucky Friday the 13th! I am amazed at how far we have come. How much Nickolas has grown, and how much I have grown. I've heard it before that you learn so much when you have a special needs child. That you look at life a whole new way, take time to appreciate the little things, you appreciate everything instead of taking things for granted.

Nickolas is doing so much. You can hear the wheels in his heading turning, trying to figure out how to do something. Usually it involves trying to get Katheryn's toys, clothes, hair or just Katheryn. He is rolling to get himself places, or just squirming around. I got foam squares that I put him on, it's nice and soft and means he's not picking up dog hair and putting it in his mouth. We have a big hairy dog (Bernese Mountain dog) and there is hair everywhere!! Seconds after I vacuum it is back.

I took his 9 month picture, I take it and you can see how much he has matured over the month. So much more than when he is in front of you every day.

Here is our 7, 8, and 9 month pictures

Rolling Action

Nickolas can roll - I know he can. He just doesn't want to. And he's only gone from his stomach to his back without assistance - and back to stomach is harder. He can do it with assistance no problem - he just likes that extra little push. But like I said, I know he can do it.

Well he's gotten alot more comfortable rolling and reaching and just moving his body. So here is a video that proves that YES HE CAN! (and Yes he WILL).

You might not want the volume up loud. Katheryn is in the background screaming because I took away Nick's bath seat because she kept getting in and couldn't get out!

We have ROLLING!!

Finally after alot of work and enticement, Nickolas decided to grace us with rolling over.
I explained to him that rolling over was very important, and he was starting to make his mommy worried. Also Kingsley (a fellow baby with spina bifida) has already rolled over and he is younger! So after much consideration, Nickolas decided to give it a try!

Seriously though. YAY!!!!!!!

Nickolas is a bit of a bigger kid, has some extra padding that he needs to haul over (but I love all his rolls and dimples). He also has a huge scar on his back! It goes all the way over to one side, and with the scar comes a scar to muscles which means that he is starting from a negative to get strength and control of his trunk. This is physio paying off.

This was all I got and then PSYCHE! Back up - but he did it off-camera
