Backyard fun

You know how there are those memory photos on facebook?
This is one from 5 years ago
Look at how cute these kids are!

Well the kids were playing in the backyard again, and I thought we could get a similar picture

This one had a crazy little puppy involved

Katheryn decided she wanted some more pictures (photo credits to Nick)
Katheryn is definately the photo-shy one of the family, so we take the opportunity when it is offered.

Rory went in for some puppy nibbles

And he wanted some pictures together with the puppy

More Renovations

Kyle was busy while we were in Florida.
We came home to a couple of ramps all ready for Nick!

One was a ramp over the step in our family room, so Nick doesn't have to step down, but can bring his walker in directly.

The other thing he did made this little boy very happy!

He made a ramp into the backyard.
So Nick can access our backyard without any help!

It is a little bit steep (all of these pictures were taken right in a row) and we had Katheryn at the bottom to catch him

But he was so excited!

Nick says "I can go into the backyard all by myself!"

Here is our updated wish list:
  • Open up the entry way into the family, taking down the half wall
  • Make a ramp into the family room (needed some space to do this first)
  • Make a ramp (or something) into the backyard
  • Take out the front hall closet in the foyer.
  • Put handrails on the walls up the stairs
  • Put a doorway from our front hall into the garage
  • Add a platform in the garage
  • Get a porch lift and install it inside the garage

Ready for a Sunny Summer!

The weather has been simply summer-ish!
So out comes all of the outside toys and our backyard looks like it belongs to a couple of kids!
First comes out the art supplies. What better place to paint than outside in the natural light.

And now that Nickolas realizes that he can actually walk around in the play house, it is his favorite place to be. Nick has full freedom inside that house. The two of them can actually play together outside! And not just sitting in the sandbox.

There is playing baseball!
We have a gazebo, and Katheryn likes to run around the bases. That is actually how we spent Mothers Day!
STRIKE ONE!
I had to buy a t-ball stand when I found out I am a horrible pitcher - if I didn't hit Katheryn with the ball, I was too high/too low/too wide!

Nickolas really happy to hit the ball, I'm still teaching him the right side of the bat!

Nick was actually just really happy to stand at the T-ball thing in his walker.

He was significantly less happy when he realized I wanted him to walk on the grass with his walker!
This is his 'ha ha I'm getting down' face... "NO WALK"

The slide is another great toy that is perfect for the kids this summer too!
Katheryn has loved the slide right from the beginning, Nickolas was never that sure about it.

Now he climbs up himself, slides down, then crawls around and climbs back up.
I'm counting this as physiotherapy.

And what better way to end a nice spring/summer day than to pass out halfway up the couch!
